Gift Ideas for your Fiancé - Larger Cell Plan [Part 1 of 4]

What do brides really want from their groom?  This is a question with an ever-changing answer.

We learned from Father of the Bride  that kitchen appliances "suggest a certain 1950's reference to sexual politic...Maybe a new clock, or a cool phone, or a great art book, or something...but a blender? I mean, what is this? 1958?"

So guys, we can rule out any kitchen appliances and leave that to the gift registry.  In this day and age, what brides are hoping for is time and availability, so I'm starting a series of gift ideas that help with just that.  Each Thursday this month will be a new gift idea for her.

A Larger Cell Plan - For Him or for Her

I have always opted for a smaller cell plan, however  unlimited nights and weekends doesn't always cut it when your bride asks you to call about the marriage certificate or needs an emergency phone meeting during your lunch break.  Telling her "sorry I've used up too many minutes this month" will get tiring real quick, but racking up a $200 overage charge isn't helping either.

Maybe you have enough minutes, but try asking your fiancé if she needs more minutes on her plan for the next 6 months.  Cell companies are usually not very flexible, but they will allow you to increase or decrease your cell plan any time.  Your bride is making more calls then ever and the gift of an extra 400 minutes a month might be just what she needs.  More minutes on a cell plan (especially your own) may not be the most romantic gift idea, but it's a great way to show your bride you’re attentive and available.

  3. This is a great idea. I went WAY over my minutes leading up to wedding day. My husband and I prefer vacations to gifts. What a bride wants is quality time with her groom!

  4. I think it's really thoughtful to go ahead and prepare for all the things you'll definitely need to have (like cell phone minutes, yes!!). it's a good way to give a sweet, practical gift, without feeling wasteful or frivolous. Great idea!

  5. I spent more time on the phone leading up to the wedding, but the sad thing is I still came NOWHERE close to my limit. Mainly I have like unlimited weekdays now too because I have so many rollover minutes!
