Ask Ben: The Perfect Day of Wedding Gift for the Groom

Ask Ben the Groom Here

One reader is looking for a groom's gift and is having a little trouble. Here are her parameters:
1. Needs to be Perfect
2. Not the standard Fancy Watch or Cuff Links
3. Something He'll truely Love and Appreciate
4. He's a Hunter, fisher, gambler, car lovin truck kinda guy.

Good Luck...

Well, since I don't know you're groom personally (or the budget you're working with) I can't tell you exactly what would make the "perfect" gift. However here are some ideas that might help.

Timing is Important
- The perfect "Day of The Wedding Gift" can easily be lost in the shuffle.  You want him to really notice and appreciate what you got him, however his attention is being pulled in a million directions.  Maybe tell him that you want to give him your gift later after the wedding.  Having his full attention should make the gift giving go much smoother, and he'll appreciate it more.

If you want him to have something from you during the actual wedding, this seems like the perfect gift for your guy! He'd love a camouflage handkerchief tucked in his jacket. A handkerchief is a must have for all grooms, because they'll either cry or sweat. The guys at FineAndDandyshop.com make some great items!

Finally, have you considered an "activity gift" for your groom. Are their excursions and outdoor activities you can sign up for on your honeymoon? Telling him the day of the wedding that you signed him up for with an awesome 4wheel excursion might catch his attention.

Hopefully this helps and gets you heading closer to the perfect Groom's Gift.

  3. I am going to a wedding next weekend and cant think of a wedding gift to get. Its my girlfriends, sister's wedding, I am pretty close to the family so even though I was told I didn't need to get a gift I would feel wierd not getting something. Any thoughts?

  4. What is the proper etiquette for wedding gifts for a couple who are having a cival ceremony in a park with the justic of the peace, no reception afterward..will be at a later date? Are you suppose to give them money when you attend their wedding or the reception at a later date??

  6. I'm going to the shower and the wedding and I've asked around about what to get for the shower gift and found out they are registered at a few places. So, do I just pick something off their lists for both the shower and the wedding? Or, is the wedding shower for the woman supposed to be about something else?
