The Commissioner, if it is the same as in my country, is the registering body The Officiant is like me, the person who performs the ceremony according to law Both would be listed under different web sites
You have been invited here today to share with Ben and Ayme a very important moment in their lives. In the years they have been together, their love and understanding of each other has grown and matured, and now they have decided to live their lives together as husband and wife. (Or something similar)
Most officiants have a fee for doing the ceremony itself, but if you want a rehearsal it is an additional fee, and some will also charge for the mileage that they have to drive. The officiant I had sent me numerous ceremony options/ideas/vows, etc that I could go thru to see what I liked or wanted, but also told me I was welcome to send her something new as well. We also got a binder that had our ceremony in it and a "keepsake" certificate.
Im getting married in San Diego we found our officiant and he is only charging $210 that's for the wedding and rehearsal. He does not charge a travel fee. He has great reviews, is real fun and laid back which was important to us. I think it is ridiculous for an officiant to charge hundreds of dollars to read something for 30 mins. Its an example of how much people can overcharge because of the simple fact you mention the word wedding.
