3 Reasons to Choose a Candy Bar Over of a Groom's Cake

Thanks to my new friends at The Superior Nut Company, I'm featuring candy! I'm so glad they contacted me with the idead because candy is one of my greatest passions. Just like their name implies, they are definitely superior to other candy companies and it only took a few bites of their excellent candies to taste the difference. After riding a sugar high all week, I've finally settled down enough to put together my thoughts and I have decided to encourage grooms to have candy INSTEAD of a groom's cake. Since I speak for the groom this argument might surprise you, but hang in there with me as we go over a few reasons to have a candy bar instead of a groom's cake.

1. Cake is Cake - Groom's, your bride has already carefully hand-picked the best cake possible, so do you really need more cake? Her cake is going to be huge, extremely delicious and beautiful, so opting for a candy bar gives you more variety.

2. Saves Money - A groom's cake can be a cool and funny inside look into your personality, but honestly its not really worth working into the overall "wedding plan." A candy bar on the other hand can double as decorations and favors for the guests, easily adding more to what your bride is trying to build. Lets face it, mason jars or color coded candies look way better than a hunting inspired three tiered cake bonanaza. And again gentleman, you're not sacrificing anything. You're simply trading an extra cake for LOTS of candy. With the candy working into your brides decor and favor plans, you'll be saving her time and money.

3. Left Overs - Last but definitly not least is pockets and pockets full of candy. You're not going to bring cake in your carry-on, but bags of candy will be your best friend. Whether its on your car ride away from the wedding, a midnight snack or a boredom fighter during long flights, you'll be glad you opted for the candy bar instead of a groom's cake.

There you have it ladies and gentlemen, three reasons why you should choose a candy bar instead of a groom's cake. Feel free to disagree, but first visit my friends at the Superior Nut Company. Be careful though, because I promise you'll be one step closer to starting your candy bar order.

    1. Groom's cakes are meant to reflect something about the groom. It can be about his personality or his hobbies. It should be fun. You can serve it at the rehearsal dinner or the reception.

  2. I like the idea of a candy bar instead of a grooms cake -- what guy doesn't love nibbling on snacks like nuts and m&ms?

I you have pictures that would be great and who you used too.... I'm in Az btw. I am really not interested in giving advise on what to surprise him with because I already have that planed out.Much thanks!

  7. Hi My fiance enjoys grilling (and of course, drinking). He works as a Derrick Hand on an oil rig. What would be a good groom's cake that represents his personality? I am stumped!

  8. Most of the weddings I have gone to the grooms cake is a different flavor. like chocolate. I'm sure something masculine can be created, or a cake shaped like a duck.

  10. That sounds like a GREAT idea! I answered your question earlier, my FH likes CARS and MOTORCYCLES. So I'm making a cake in the shape of a red Corvette- what he drives, so he'll totally appreciate it! I'm sure your FH will love your idea, and the thought you put into it! Definitely go with the edible transfer, as a cake decorator, that code could be REALLY time consuming.

  13. I love candies too. And as much as possible, I have them in my bag so that wherever I am have something to eat especially if I'm bored. And that's right, you can have these in your pockets. Unlike cakes, you could not bring them anywhere.

  14. I don't eat cake, and my fiance doesn't want to waste money on a wedding cake that wont be eaten or that we wont be able to share on our anniversary. We want something nice (not like pies). Also, we wonder if ice-cream cake could be a possibility. Thanks ahead.

  15. the groom's cake is for everyone, just like the wedding cake. It's called a groom's cake because it is often shaped to represent the groom's interest. It doesn't mean that only the groom gets to eat it.

  16. My Fiance and I are planning a wedding 600 miles from where we currently live. We will be going there next month, is that too soon to do cake tastings for a wedding that will take place in September 2011? If we went a month before the wedding, would that be too short notice to have a cake made for us? And if anyone knows of a good bakery in San Diego, I would appreciate suggestions!

  24. Out of; Crunch, Snickers, Twix, 3 Musketeers, and Milky Way; what is your favorite candy bar?

  25. None. I'd prefer a Molson Canadian with a side of clamato, some baked whole-grain tostado chips with fat-free cheese, preferably Jalapeno Jack and salsa.

  26. Perhaps in such situation somewhere lies ur own fault. Why don't u have guts to just stand up and say a firm shut up whenever you are subjected to such humiliating scenarios. Yes it may be difficult the first time but certainly an opening had to be made.
